Kilgore Police Department was awarded “Recognized Status” after an onsite review was conducted by the assessors of the Texas Law Enforcement Agency Best Practices Recognition Program.

The Kilgore Police Department is the 77th agency in Texas to received the recognition.

The honor means that the agency meets or exceeds all of the identified 164 Best Practices for Texas Law Enforcement. These best practices cover aspects of law enforcement operations such as use of force, protection of citizen rights, pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations. While being “Recognized” does not guarantee and an agency will not make a mistake, it does ensure that the agency has studied these critical issues, has developed policy and procedures to address them and has systems in place to identify and correct problems.

The Department will be formally awarded the “Recognition” at an upcoming City Council meeting on March 12th, 2013. Make Plans to come join us.
