Kilgore revisits EMS services
Kilgore — After some council members received negative feedback, the Kilgore City Council plans to revisit a proposal Tuesday that suggests the fire department take control of emergency medical services in the city.
The proposal met with some concern from council members during a budget workshop Friday, and City Manager Scott Sellers indicated at the meeting that he would bring it back as a discussion item not connected to the budget. The next council meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“I’m not in favor of spending money on it. I have talked around town, too, and I have heard no interest to change,” Mayor Pro Tem Harvey McClendon said during Friday’s workshop. “We changed this over, took Champion on to get this off of us.”
Councilwoman Lori Weatherford brought up the proposal during the four-hour meeting where city staff and council members hashed out the annual budget.
