KILGORE, TX — Five Kilgore High School seniors, who admitted their involvement in deflating the tires on Kilgore ISD school buses, will not face felony charges, according to Gregg County Criminal District Attorney Carl Dorrough. The DA has instead charged the five young men with Class C misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief.
On April 8th, KISD officials arrived at the bus barns and found that tires on numerous buses had been deflated by removing the valve stems. The valve stems were placed next to each tire. Neither the tires nor any other property was damanged or destroyed during the incident.
Five individuals, all seniors at Kilgore High School, eventually came forward and admitted their participation in the event. The students were disciplined by KISD and they apologized to the school board, but all were allowed to graduate.
A Class C misdemeanor charge carries a maximum fine of up to $500. No court date has been set.
