Kilgore, TX — A Kilgore ISD teacher is on administrative leave after allegedly slapping a child while on a field trip.

Kilgore ISD officials released a statement this afternoon concerning the incident.

"KISD was informed on Thursday afternoon that an incident had occurred while a class was on a visit to Kilgore Public Library. It was reported that a 4-year-old autistic child had slapped a teacher and the teacher had slapped the child back. On Thursday KISD sent the teacher home on indefinite administrative leave and are taking necessary actions to remedy the situation."

KETK spoke briefly with the teacher this morning who directed all questions to her lawyer.
