KTBB Question of the Day for Friday, August 7th
August 7, 2009 - 9:08am
EAST TEXAS—East Texans voice their opinions to KTBB's Question of the Day: Should health care reform be governed on the state or federal level?
Texas Governor Rick Perry says he is willing and ready to fight the Obama administration in order to handle health care reform on the state level. The conservative Texas governor recently cited the 10th amendment, saying that it is within state rights to reject federal health care reform. In addition, Gov. Perry calls any government run health care system "not a solution to health care problems." Instead, he says he wants to pursue state-based solutions.

the people of canada when polled 78 % are happy with their health care and 22% not. Citizens of Canada pay less taxes than we do in the united states and the life span in Canada is 80 years where in the United States it is 78 (according to lou dobbs). wow lower taxes, everyone insured, majority of the citizens happy with their care, and they live longer not bad

3 months agoKeep our health care system out of the hands of the federal government. They screw up everything they touch. Always have and always will. Sure we have problems with what we have. But i will take that any day over a socialized system. Look in any country in the world and you will see how it works. Thats why everyone comes here for health care.

3 months agoGovernor Perry is a person that has lost his mind. If he stated that the health care system is broken and the states should fix the problem, then why hasn't our Texas Republican controlled (20 years) legislature and Governor done something about the problem?
Oh yes, they did I almost forgot. It was called Tort Reform. These Republicans tricked the citizens of Texas into voting for Tort Reform by telling us it would bring down the cost of health care premiums and the total cost of health care all together and that was a flat out lie. Health care in Texas has done nothing but go up and we as a state rank in the top ten for the number of uninsured children.
All Tort Reform did is limit the citizens access to the courts when they have been victimized by a health care provider.
I say to you the people, go to the library of congress web site and research HR 3200 for yourself and stop listening to the right wing and liberal news media, news letters and organization on this issue. Do the research on the bill itself for yourself and then and only then can you have an educated opinion on this topic.
Stop listening to Rush, Hanity and the Republican talking points and educate yourself people. Again it is HR 3200 and you can also print it for yourself in the print friendly mode, it is only 543 pages

3 months agoIt should be governed on the state level. Many things should. That way, the insane Washington government can't ruin our lives, too.
