Jacksonville, TX (KETK) — Labor Day weekend is celebrated across the nation in many different ways. For the ATV enthusiasts in Jacksonville, many are having some good, and not-so-clean fun.
One describes the weekend as, "It's just a bunch of friends getting together and playing in the mud". The annual Mud Bash kicked off Saturday afternoon. KETK spoke with the manager of the park, Scott Bordelon, who said, "We're going to have a triathlon race at the high line pits. They'll go through on four-wheelers, on foot, and then finish with canoes".
The rest of the weekend includes bounce houses, hot dogs, and of course, great four-wheeling. Bordelon explained, "Our park is diverse. We have anywhere from the dry trails you can ride on, we have mud, if you want mud we have plenty of mud, and then we also have hilly terrain".
Bringing more than 2,000 people to the River Run camp grounds this weekend alone. Bordelon said that number of people is relatively standard.
However everyone enjoys the park for different reasons. One man said, "I like the night rides, riding at night. You don't know what you're getting into". While another rider said, "Getting muddy, having fun and hanging out with friends".
So whether participating in the triathlon or just racing around, the goal is simple. Bordelon said, "Just to come out, have a family fun event this weekend and just for everyone to enjoy themselves".
The event continues through Monday. For more details, visit: http://www.riverrunpark.com/
