LAKE PALESTINE, TEXAS (KETK) — Hundreds of people headed out to Lake Palestine on Saturday for a splash. It was the 3rd Annual Adaptive Aquafest at Lake Palestine. Texas Adaptive Aquatics hosted the event welcoming families with disabilities to ditch the wheelchair and let loose on the water. Aquafest was held at a private lake house near Emerald Bay.
T.A.A was founded in 1989, they specialize in sports equipment and water sports training. It's a non-profit skiing program which T.A.A brought to East Texas allowing adults and children to get in the water for some fun, from water skiing, kayaking and sailing.
We spoke with the T.A.A president and co-founder Roger Randall, he says Aquafest was created in honor of Mark Bryant who lived on Lake Palestine. Randall says he taught Mark how to water ski, and after his passing his wife Deb wanted to continue her husband's love of getting on the water. And that is why Aquafest is home to Lake Palestine.
Randall says when people are out on the water, their smiles say it all.
