Last minute back-to-school shopping
(KETK) - Tyler Tx — With school starting back up, I took a trip to the Mecca of back-to-school mania... Target. From backpacks to pens, pencils, lunch boxes and binders the store was packed with people rushing to get their last minute purchases.
"We waited until the last day because we came from vacation," said Leticia Senchez, parent of three. "So we have to buy everything today."
Senchez said the back-to-school rush can be costly. For her, up to 100 dollars per child.
"It's too much money," Senchez said. "Because I have three kids."
Kathy Stroupe, a teacher at Arp Elementary School, said she hopes it is parents who forgot something, not last minute shoppers.
"Well, I don't think it's last minute," Stroupe said. "I think maybe they couldn't find something and they're going back to look for it."
Such a sweet answer from first grade teacher Mrs. Stroupe, but it is probably wishful thinking.
