WACO - State lawmakers say they want to help rural veterinarians who treat large animals, by introducing a loan forgiveness program that will subsidize loans.
Officials say this could be used for education or start-up costs. Many vets say they can't afford to open large animal practices, because they work longer hours, their clients have less money and equipment is very expensive.
State lawmakers say the loan forgiveness bill is still being written.
