PHOENIX  - According to the Associated Press--

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has signed into law emergency legislation to head off picketing by a Topeka, Kansas church near the funeral service for a 9-year-old girl who was killed during Saturday's shooting in Tucson.

Unanimous votes by the House and Senate on Tuesday sent the bill to Brewer.  It took effect immediately with her signature Tuesday night.

The new law prohibits protests within 300 feet of a funeral or burial service.

The Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket Thursday's funeral for Christina Taylor Green.  The fundamentalist church has picketed many military funerals to draw attention to its view that the deaths are God's punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.

How very sick of these people who call themselves christians to do these kinds of things. I am a christian myself and would never even condone anything like this, the men and women in our military deserve respect and so do their families for fighting for our freedoms and rights. This lastest expliot by this so called "church" group is digusting and is a definate sin in the eyes of God and the true christians that love and honor God in their hearts. We should always love as Jesus did.

I would not want to be a member of this Westboro Church who pickets the funeral of a child, soldier or any funerals. To openly say that death is God's punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality, is ridiculuous. What about churchs who picket funerals of soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country & for this country's FREEDOM? So many people want to put the blame on someone else never wanting to take responsibility for their own actions.May God have mercy you.
