Longview (KETK) — One East Texas mother has filed a lawsuit after she says he daughter, who has a speech impediment, was constantly bullied at school and she says, the school district did nothing to stop it.
The mother and teen choose to remain nameless, for the sake of the Daughter who has recently transferred from Spring Hill ISD to Longview ISD; after she says she was called names made fun of, even threatened on a daily basis at school and via text message when she was attending Spring Hill Junior High School. The bullying victim says she was told by teachers to forget about what the other students were saying to her, "they would tell me to ignore it and it will go away," she says.
After a claimed two years of torture, her mother filed for a transfer to Longview ISD, and also filed a lawsuit against Spring Hill ISD, "We filed a due process hearing against the school as long with me filing office of civil rights complaints and tea complaints," the mother says.
The mom says, the district isn't doing their job. Last year Spring Hill implemented a new anti-bullying program called, Olweus Bullying Prevention Program <http://www.violencepreventionworks.org/>. However, according to thr program, an investigation is supposed to be done into every bullying situation. Mom says, that never happened, and the bullying never stopped.
KETK attempted to speak with Superintendent of Spring Hill ISD, Wes Jones, numerous times, we finally received this email:
Spring Hill ISD follows the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. The Spring Hill ISD administrative staff and School Resource Officer address all concerns regarding bullying.
I respectfully decline an interview.
