EAST TEXAS-- Next week is the deadline to have your taxes filed and just in time comes a new set of bogus emails from those out to steal your identity.
Scam artist are sending out emails that look like they are from the IRS but beware, these are not from the IRS and you should not open the emails or answer any questions they ask of you.
According to experts, these people are trying to get your personal information so they can steal your identity and they are counting on you not paying attention.
Anne Harris of the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas says, "the reason is because everybody is either looking for a refund or afraid they made an error on their taxes. They haven't filed their taxes yet and are under pressure to get them filled quickly."
Ms. Harris also says if you have question about an email from the IRS go to the IRS website or call the agency directly.
