NATIONAL--Soaring jet fuel costs are severely straining the airline industry and making ticket prices soar for travelers.

Jet fuel prices tied with crude oil that hit one hundred and twenty dollars a barrel Tuesday.

Now, the top airlines say they are being forced to raise fare prices by 25 percent.

Most airlines are bringing in more revenue but the sustained high fuel prices are wiping out most profits, they say.

To cope with rising fuel prices airlines are cutting back on flights and services but at the same time raising fees on everything from fuel surcharges, extra baggage and even choice seats.
