Lecture series begins in Nacogdoches tonight with author

AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
Author Claire Davis, of Lewisboro, Idaho, will be the inaugural speaker for Nacogdoches' new Karle Wilson Baker and Charlotte Montgomery Baker annual lecture series, beginning tonight.
Dr. Mark Sanders, chairman of the Department of English at Stephen F. Austin State University, said the memorial lecture series was created to honor of the mother/daughter writers from Nacogdoches.
Davis will read from her two novels, "Winter Range" and "Season of the Snake," at 7 p.m. in the Cole Art Center downtown. Her novel "Winter Range" has been named best novel of the year by the Mountains and Plains Booksellers Association. Her short stories have been featured in "Best American Short Stories".
