Liberty Hall to show 1978 'Superman'
Tyler, Texas (KETK) — The City of Tyler’s Liberty Hall will present the 1978 film “Superman” on June 27 at 7 p.m. This blockbuster film is directed by Richard Donner and stars Christopher Reeve as the “Man of Steel.”
Unable to convince the ruling council of Krypton that their world will soon destroy itself, scientist Jor-El, played by Marlon Brando, takes drastic measures to preserve the Kryptonian race; he sends his infant son, Kal-El, to Earth. There, gaining great powers under Earth's yellow sun, he will become a champion of truth and justice.
An elderly farm couple, the Kents, find the baby, name him Clark Kent and teach him to use his abilities for good. Clark travels to Metropolis, where he becomes a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet... and a caped wonder whose amazing feats stun the city. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor, played by Gene Hackman, the world's greatest criminal mind, is plotting the biggest real estate swindle of all time.
Can Superman stop him?
“This film is touted by many as the best Superman ever,” said Anne Payne, manager of Liberty Hall. “Christopher Reeve is the one to beat!”
Liberty Hall is located at 103 E. Erwin St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the movie starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at www.LibertyTyler.com or at the door starting at 6 p.m., the night of the show.
