Downtown Jacksonville is planning to shine a little brighter, and according to local officials, the glamor will come at a lower cost.

Austin Gwartney, who is a recent graduate from Bullard High School, will heading up the project.

The idea is to cover all of downtown Jacksonville in LED lights which can change colors without changing bulbs.

Which means during Christmas they would glow red and green, and on Friday nights they would shine blue and gold for the Jacksonville Indians.

It's a project that plans to bring more interest to downtown, as well as save the city money.

Gwartney says 65 businesses and counting have also ordered these lights in Jacksonville.

He says the goal to everything ready downtown is sometime in November.

A great idea except for one thing; "If you light-up Jacksonville Texas then people would see it" !
