The lights will be back on at Hinsley Park Tuesday after vandalism forced the city to cancel 16 adult softball games Monday.

Monday night’s softball games were called off after city workers discovered vandals had been pried open electrical boxes on the light poles, cutting the electrical wires inside.

Longview Public Information Officer Shawn Hara said cost figures were not available Tuesday for the cost of the repair.

Hinsley Park has four baseball fields with four games per field each night.

Hara said the city does not have surveillance cameras that would have captured damage to the electrical boxes at Hinsley.

Vandalism in recent years at other area parks led the city to install surveillance cameras at seven of its parks. In 2012, the cameras led police to adults and juveniles who were charged with vandalism to concession and restroom facilities at Lear Park.
