The Lindale High School Speech/Debate team etched its position in the U.S. rankings
at the National Forensic League (NFL) National Tournament in Indianapolis on June 10-15.

Cade Stripling and Mark Bloemen broke into the top sixty U.S. debater rankings in
Cross Examination. They are the second Lindale pairing to do so in the debate program’s
more than 60-year history. Stripling and Bloeman each received a plaque from the NFL for
the accomplishment.

Graduate Randall Oliver competed in Supplementary Extemporaneous Commentary
and broke into the top forty national ranking. Oliver also competed with fellow graduate
Savannah Williamson in Public Forum Debate.

Also competing at the national tournament: Logan Herrera and Haley Spires in Public
Forum Debate, Kaleigh Kennedy and Alec DeJong in Duo, and Braden Root in Dramatic
Interpretation.

“It was an exciting week and we experienced great competition,” Debate Sponsor
Janice Caldwell said. “Lindale is blessed with great students - as competitors and as people.”
