Lindale FFA student wins $10K scholarship at stock show
Lindale, Texas (KETK) — A Lindale FFA student won a scholarship at stock show.
Senior Dylan Bacon won a $10,000 scholarship for his speech on biofuels.
Bacon was the first-place finisher among more than 160 students at the San Antonio Stock Show's Senior Prepared Speaking Contest on February 15.
The Lindale High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) student has placed at every speaking event he has entered, but never won until now.
He set his sights on winning the stock show competition as a sophomore. After competing in San Antonio for three years, Bacon’s practice paid off. He was required to write a six to eight minute speech on a topic of his choice. Competitors must submit their manuscript in American Psychological Association (APA) format to the judges and deliver their speech from memory.
