LINDALE - This Friday students and faculty of Lindale High School will participate in a unique fundraiser with proceeds devoted to the relief efforts in Haiti.

Students and faculty will participate in “Hats for Haiti.” Students who are not normally allowed to wear hats to school under the dress code can pay $1.00 to wear a hat on Friday, February 5. Faculty members can pay $5.00 to wear jeans. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the American Red Cross in support of earthquake recovery work in Haiti.

Lindale High School principal Donny Williams said dozens of students approached him wanting to create a schoolwide fundraiser to help the Haitian people.

“We have total support of the student body,” Principal Williams said. “They wanted to do something to help with the relief effort after the catastrophic event. This initiative has been overwhelmingly accepted by teachers, staff and administrators. To see our teenagers wanting to support the people of Haiti, it just warms everyone’s hearts.”
