Lindale, TX (KETK) — The Lindale Public Library recently received a donation for $5,140, from a local organization that wishes to remain anonymous. KETK spoke with the Director of the library, Carrie Custer, who shared, "It makes us feel really good. it just validates that we are still going in the right direction for our community, which is number one for us".
Donations like these are extremely important for this library, because it is not funded by the state or Smith county. Custer said, "Although we receive a generous donation from Lindale, we exist on donations and grants".
So the Lindale Public Library already has a plan for the new funds. These plans include increased internet security and an upgraded "Mango" language learning software. They will also be using the donations to upgrade the systems on book checkouts and renewals. Perhaps the most exciting change, will be the new automated library cards expected in 2014. Custer said, "We currently don't have the budget to hire a support staff that's needed for a library of our scope and size, so anything we can do to write grants for more automation is helpful to the community".
