LISD superintendent of finance shares details of joint election agreement

Members of the Lufkin school board on Tuesday heard the details of the district’s joint election agreement with the city of Lufkin.
Assistant Superintendent of Finance Larry Parsons told the board during its monthly finance meeting that the agreement would require the district to split the cost of each shared voting station.
“By law, we are required to join our local municipality in a joint election if both parties are intending on holding elections,” Parsons said.
“We will share voting machines at voting locations that are going to be used by the school district and the city, and we will essentially split the cost with the city at those locations.”
While the city election is broken into wards, the school district election is divided by boxes. The school district election will have three boxes. Box One will be located at the district administration building on Cotton Square. Box Two will be at Brandon Elementary off Sayers Street, and Box Three will be located at Slack Elementary off Fuller Springs Drive.
