LONGVIEW - Friday, the Longview Lobo's will pack up and hit the road to the high school football state championship.
And traveling close behind them will be one dedicated group of fans.
Former Longview Mayor, D.A. Benton has followed the team since the beginning.
He has had season tickets since 1937 and hasn't missed a home game since then.
Benton was even there the last time the Lobo's won State in 1937.
He said, "We went to dallas at the Cotton Bowl on Christmas day to see the Lobo's play and they beat Wichita Falls."
And the Longview cheerleaders literally painted the town green and white, as they decorated several vehicles for Saturday's big game.
Longview Cheerleader, Britney Roberts said, "I just thought it would help the boys know we are supporting them and we have their backs all the way."
The cheerleaders are thrilled to be cheering for a winning team and they have high expectations for this weekend.
Varsity Cheerleader, Kirsten Rusk said, "We feel very fortunate and blessed our boys have gone on and they are about to win the championship and we are thankful Longview, Texas is following us the whole way."
And possibly the Lobo's biggest fan, D.A. Benton says he has no doubt, the Lobo's will come home winners.
Benton said, "This team they are playing haven't lost a game in about 17 games but I believe they are gonna miss one this year."
