LONGVIEW - For the third time since 2004 the football field at Longview High School Lobo Stadium needs to be replaced.

Longview Independent School District spokesman Brian Bowman told us, "It's an issue thats been going on for about six years now. It was not installed properly and it was a safety issue for our student athletes."

After the first installation the field started to curl up and now the district is looking to replace the field because of drainage issues causing divots in the playing surface.

The orginal funding for the field was paid for through booster donations and a lawsuit payed for the reinstallation in 2007 but the district now is turning towards other sources of revenue to fix the field.

The district is looking at several options including using their fund balance or using the extra money that is being saved on the bond issue.

"You know whatever kind of money we spend is coming from tax payers," Bowman said.

No decision has been made yet but if the district decides to replace the field they want to do it the right way.
