ATHENS - The numbers are in and they're staggering. On Thursday, KETK obtained a list of the amount of fish restocked in local area lakes and, with such high number last year, we wanted to know what caused such high demand for fish.

The number of fish Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens stocked last year, 5.9 million, and that was just largemouth Bass

We're told it was their highest year on record the culprit, last years exteremly dry season.

Jim Matthews with the fishery tells KETK, "We've recovered a lot of losses from the drought last year. There's a lot of new habitat along the shoreline, we've been restocking those lakes very successfully."
