Tyler, Texas (KETK) — Members of the LGBTQ community in East Texas will gather Wednesday night at 8 p.m., on Tyler's downtown square to celebrate today's momentous rulings by the Untied States Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) as uunconstitutional under the Equal Protection clause and remanded the Proposition 8 case in California back to the state on grounds that the plaintiff had no grounds to bring suit.
The peaceful celebration in Tyler tonight will include members of Project TAG (Tyler Area Gays), Tyler Junior College's S.A.G.E..(Straights And Gays for Equality), UT Tyler's Gay-Straight Alliance, the East Texas chapter of PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and their straight allies.
Everyone supportive of these victories is invited to join the informal gathering.
