Local ministry purchases several Longview ISD properties, plans after-school program

Longview, TX — A local ministry has nabbed several former Longview ISD school buildings in the hopes of starting an after-school program for children in the neighborhood to provide them with a little “something different.”
Blessings from Heaven Ministries leader Jonathan Perry said Tuesday the group plans to transform T.G. Field Auditorium, LEAD Academy, the Dade Center, Valley View Elementary School and a portion of the former Forest Park Middle School into locations for an after-school program.
“We want to give kids better opportunities,” Perry said. “We want to provide them with encouraging classes that will promote a positive attitude. It will be one-on-one, hands on with the children. We just want to start something different. We’ll also have biblical classes.”
