TYLER - In just five weeks - Americans head to the polls to choose a new president.

For undecided voters like Adam Setzler – the clock is ticking to make a decision.

Setzler says events like Friday’s presidential debate are crucial, but after watching the showdown with his mother in Tyler - he says neither candidate made a substantial impact on his vote.

“I thought it was perfectly staged,” said Setzler, who’s leaning toward voting for Senator Barack Obama at this time. “I thought that everybody had all their lines down."

And perhaps they were a little more prepared than usual because, after all, it was both John McCain’s and Obama's first presidential debate Friday night.

The two maneuvered cautiously on how to deal with the nation's financial crisis, but they clashed more sharply on foreign policy.

Tyler's Katie Shelper says watching debates between candidates wouldn’t sway her vote. Shelper says she plans on sticking with her man – Senator McCain.

“With Obama,” said Shelper, “I don't agree with his views, so no, I would not vote for him."

The next presidential debate will be on Oct. 7 in Nashville.

Meanwhile, the vice presidential candidates will hold their first debate on Thursday, Oct. 2.
