TYLER--NEW announced their expansion to Tyler Thursday.
The Virginia-based company is the nation's leading provider of extended service plans and buyer protection programs for consumer products. The company will open a virtual office for DIRECTV customer care. NEW plans to hire 120 employees per year over the next four years, totaling 480 new technical jobs in Tyler.
Employees will be trained at the TJC campus and then they will work out of their homes.
"This is a great day for Tyler. These are technology jobs with a nationally known company. DIRECTV is a high tech company and people are going to learn skills and have the convenience of working at home and saving on gas, driving, and other hassles," says Tyler Economic Development CEO, Tom Mullins.
Company representatives say they've had over 2-thousand hits on their website for the Tyler job announcement.
Interested job candidates can meet with NEW representatives at a job fair at 9 am on May 13 and at 9 am and 6 pm on May 14. The job fair will take place at the Workforce Solutions of East Texas, 4100 Troup Highway, in Tyler. NEW will also hold a job fair in Jacksonville from 4-7pm at the Norman Activity Center.
