TYLER---A mother charged with strangling her 2 year old son has been sentenced to life in prison.

39 year old Catherine Alana Stevens pleaded guilty to first degree murder in a hearing this afternoon.

Last July paramedics were called to Stevens home in response to a 9-1-1 call about an unresponsive toddler.

That toddler, 2-year-old William Stevens was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Tyler police say Stevens told them she choked her child.
