TYLER - Voters went to the polls to decide mayors, school boards, and school bond proposals and their votes were counted.
Tyler Junior College Board Place 9 had 3 people running for the seat. Melinda Coker won the seat with 41 percent of the votes, while Rohn Boone had 40 percent of the vote. Steven Sherwood also ran for the seat and won 19 percent of the vote.
In the Tyler Mayor's race Barbara Bass won with 61 percent of the vote. Laura Corbett came in second with 38 percent, while Keith Pyron won 65 votes.
Tyler Voters in District 6 of the City Council elected Charles Alworth with 83 percent of the vote, while Larry Meckley received 17 percent.
Over 6,660 people voiced their opinions through their votes on whether or not the Unicard System should be disbanded. The voters decided in favor of disbanding the system with over 67 percent of the vote. 32 percent of the votes were against the option.
Tyler voters in District 4 of the Tyler Independent School District Board had 5 candidates to choose from for the seat. Shirley Jordan won the seat with 33 percent of the vote. Dale Blackstone came in second with 26 percent of the vote. Cody Savell, John D Johnson III, and Tanya Robertson-Redic also ran for the seat.
People served by the Longview ISD were voting on a 266 million dollar school bond proposal. It was a very close vote with the bond passing by only 14 votes. The bond will be used to renovate all but three campuses in the district.
Voters in Longview also cast their votes for City Council Member District 3. Sidney Bell Willis wins teh seat with 66 percent of the vote over challenger Reverend Harvel Davis.
Voters in the Athens Independent School District went to the polls for a school bond worthe more than 28 million dollars. The bond was denied by voters. This bond was proposed to allow for renovations to the schools to prepare them for a projected 200 more students in the next 5 years.
It was a 3-way race for a city council position in Jacksonville's 4th Distrcit. Rob Beal won the seat and beat out challenger's Phyllis Wilburn and James Lee Huggins.
In the City of Tatum voters went to the polls to decide Mayor and Alderman positions. Phil Coy won the seat with 93 votes over Rebecca Baker with 49 votes. The incumbent Robin Lyles won the seat of Alderman Place 1 with 79 votes over Don Hall.
Brownsboro Independent School District Voters elected Rebekah Grantham and Ricky Wiatt to the board. Bobby Lankford also ran for the seat.
Whitehouse voters also went to the polls today. They voted Danny Hogden mayor. All other races were uncontested.
