JACKSONVILLE - The old, empty Alliance Data Systems building in Jacksonville might not be vacant for much longer.

Jacksonville's City Council has agreed to offer, in principle, a 5-year tax abatement package to the un-named company.

If approved, the city would lose more than 140-thousand dollars in tax money over the span of that 5-year contract, but would gain 397 full-time jobs.

"We're probably hoping to wrap this up by mid-june or so," Says JEDCO President Darell Prcin. "2nd or 3rd week in June, we should have final decisions at that time."

Mr. Prcin says this move isn't a "done deal," but it's getting very close.

Jacksonville Economic Development Corporation research also shows the new business would inject 44-million-dollars into the local economy annually.
