Here's something to look out for when you're outside---a new species of pesky ants have been discovered in our state.

And experts warn - it's only a matter of time until they hitch a ride and land in East Texas.

The problem with this new species -- called 'Crazy Rasberry' ants -- is they are impossible to get rid of.

The 'Crazy Rasberry' ants get their name from a Houston exterminator --Tom Rasberry -- that discovered them about six years ago.

Okay, ants are bad enough when they sting and get into your food-- but here's the major problem: these creatures love to eat electrical equipment and eat right through the wires.

They also love to snack on plants.

They're "crazy" because they don't march in line like typical ants...but rather go all over the place.

Experts say they arrived in Houston aboard a cargo ship and are rapidly spreading across Texas.

The good news about them is they eat fire ants...but love to munch on wires and plants.

Exterminators say they're resistant to ant killers.

However, state authorities say they are working to find a solution to these pesky crawlers.
