JACKSONVILLE - A man who is part of a group in Jacksonville that claims they don't have to follow most laws has been arrested.
The House of Israel is again under the scrutiny of police and prosecutors. About a month ago, two men were arrested outside the House of Israel in Jacksonville.
One man was a federal fugitive on the run, and was taken to a TDC facility. The other man-- David Baugh-- was arrested again last night.
Police say they received a felony warrant for David Baugh from the State of Missouri for escaping parole.
The Jacksonville Chief of Police says officers went to the House of Israel last night to arrest David Baugh. When they knocked on the door, no one answered.
But police say a man resembling Baugh appeared briefly in the window.
Then after filing a search warrant, police entered the House of Israel and arrested Baugh.
Officials say they also found a large quantity of controlled substances. They say those substances were some form of pills. They were found in packaging that read "House of Israel, Republic of Texas".
Ever since we brought you this story a month ago, we have continued to try to talk to the members of the House of Israel. Our calls have not been returned.
But we have continuously received letters from people, including Baugh himself.
