TYLER- Many places that serve alcohol, had already applied for their liquor licence, before Proposition 10 passed in May.
Todd Keller, owns and operates Caffe' Tazza in Tyler, which sells a number of different wines, as well as beer.
They currently operate under an alcohol consumption membership.
"A uni-card, or any other membership type application...you'll see that go away, as the
restaurateur permits expire,"says Keller.
That means for the remainder of the year... they have to abide by the old rules...unless they re-apply for a new license which would do away with the card.
So what's that mean for their wine and beer drinking customers, come January 1st....?
Keller says, "the only thing that will change, is you won't have to show a unicard, you won't have to join their club."
As far as propsition 10, and those who want to buy alcohol in tyler....
"Off premises consumption was not addressed at all, nothings going to change from that perspective either," and
"if you're not going to a restaurant, you still can't buy it at a grocery store, or convenient store," Keller states.
