TYLER-Parents are now concerned about a new video game that takes a popular drinking game and rates it "E" for everyone.
If you ask a college student what they do in their spare time, they may tell you they like to play video games or drink. Now, JV Games and the Nintendo Wii have made it possible to do both at the same time.
The controversial game is a virtual version of the popular college drinking game, beer pong, which requires players to toss ping-pong balls across a table into a cup of beer. The game's makers planned to release it as the first game in its new Frat Party Games series.
But JV Games had to change the title of the game to Pong Toss and fill the virtual cups with water after the company received letters from angry parents and politicians. Also the game being rated "E" for everyone also puts up red flags for some.
"I agree that it should be raised to a mature audience over 21 because it is a derivative of a drinking game and no matter what the name is as long as it's the same game it's the same game, development officer for MADD, Kim Huggins, said.
Regardless of what critics say, Nintendo which produces the popular Wii console said they are now satisfied after alcohol references were removed from the game.
