Lindsay Lohan's attorney says the actress rejected a plea deal because she did not steal a necklace from a
jewelry store and is confident a jury will acquit her.

Attorney Shawn Holley wrote in a statement released Wednesday
evening that Lohan rejected a judge's offer because Lohan is
"innocent" and "has a strong defense."

Los Angeles Superior Court Keith Schwartz had offered Lohan a
deal that would have returned the actress to jail if she pleaded
guilty or no contest in a felony grand theft case.

Holley's statement said several people had advised Lohan to
"follow the safe route" and accept Schwartz's offer, but the
actress refused because she is innocent.

The "Mean Girls" star is now due in court for a preliminary
hearing on April 22.
