Lon Morris budget issues

JACKSONVILLE — Back in April, Lon Morris College in Jacksonville delayed some paychecks to their employees. Officials say a rapid growth in the number of students put them in a budget shortfall.
Now, two teachers say their contracts are not being renewed. One anonymous man tells us when he moved from another state to take a job there, he didn't know how financially unstable the college was. He says he soon learned about a $2 million budget shortfall the college was facing.
Some teachers say they received letters in the mail stating their contracts were not going to be renewed.
Lon Morris President Dr. Miles McCall says there are no layoffs. He says the teachers may have been cut because of poor performance. Dr. McCall also says they are doing everything they can to prevent layoffs, including raising tuition.
