Longview anti-crime gatherings encourage residents to get to know each other

Longview — Neighbors gathered Tuesday across Longview in an effort to make the city a little safer.
Texans Against Crime block parties were celebrated at 60 locations across the city, giving residents a chance to mingle with their neighbors, firefighters and police officers. The aim is to help communities become closer, better acquainted and consequently safer, said Terry Barrett, who organized crime prevention activities for Partners in Prevention.
