A Longview call center is adding about 120 full-time workers and kicking off that growth with a hiring event today.

Convergys Corp., an international firm that contracts with other firms for customer service and support functions, plans to accept applications from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and again next Wednesday. Candidates may also apply online any time at www.convergys.com/careers.

The new hires will bring the total to more than 300 people employed in Longview by Convergys.

Convergys’ employment levels have varied from about 200 to more than 500 as contracts and demands from its business clients have changed, said Susan Gill, executive director of Longview Economic Development Corp.

“They had dropped to less than 200 employees earlier this year and they’ve been really trying to get their employment level up since then,” she said. “I know they increased their starting wage and revamped their bonus structure.”
