Longview Community Ministries looks to partner with bible school events
Longview — Longview Community Ministries is looking to team up with local churches throughout the summer to refill its food coffers.
“We thought it might be fun this year to put the opportunity out to area (vacation Bible school) events to participate in a food drive,” said Donna Sharp, executive director of the nonprofit organization.
Sharp said the need for supplies came after the downtown Longview ministry saw a dip in funding and an increase in need during the summer months.
“We ask the community for food; we do not ask the community for money,” Sharp said.
She added that the ministry did not receive as much support from the Greater Longview United Way as the organization had originally accounted for.
