As Longview fire officials continue their investigation into Thursday's house fire on Chad Street, they are now calling the blaze an arson. Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary says they found evidence of an ignitable fluid at the house, which was used to intentionally spark the fire, which started after 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The tenant wasn't home when the blaze started and no injuries were reported. A smell of gasoline was detected in the home. Officials say the fire caused about $50,000 worth of damage to the home. The tenant does not have insurance and the Red Cross is assisting her while she is displaced.

Zackary says they detained a person of interest at the scene yesterday--but he was released after extensive questioning.

"There was a person..detained for a period of time at the scene and later released..at this time we don't have a specific suspect..we are not leaving any leads un..untouched. however, we would ask if the public has any information.to call Crimestoppers ."

While officials say the structure will be able to be repaired, the majority of the residents belongings were destroyed by the blaze.
