Longview, TX — Longview ISD will ask residents in the coming weeks what they want in a new superintendent.
Outgoing Superintendent James Wilcox, who announced in November he would leave the district by the end of 2014, said Monday during a board of trustees meeting that community meetings had been scheduled for noon March 17 and 5:30 p.m., March 18.
“We’ve had more than 30 inquiries, and I think we’ll have a good bit more by the end of the month,” Wilcox said during an update on the search process.
Of those inquiries, district spokesman Adam Holland said Longview ISD had received about 20 applications.
The announcement came alongside a publication of a tentative schedule for hiring the district’s new chief.
According to the schedule, interviews will be held between April 28 and May 2, with follow-ups occurring the next week.
