Longview ISD takes no action on contract with superintendent finalist
Longview — Longview ISD community members expressed frustration Tuesday night as they waited through a three-hour meeting, which did not include a public forum, for the school board to emerge and once again take no action on hiring a new superintendent.
“There hasn’t been a forum for community input,” Longview resident Eleanor Kirk said. “I almost feel it’s been a process that’s been under wraps. Our children should be the most important thing in the community.”
The Longview ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday to consider a contract for lone superintendent finalist Horace Williams. Williams, an assistant superintendent in the district, was named in May as the board’s finalist to replace Superintendent James Wilcox upon his retirement.
