Longview, TX — Rosalinda Campozano drops her daughter off at Longview ISD’s Playing for Keeps Early Childhood Center each morning on her way to class at Kilgore College.
Campozano, who was pregnant at age 15, graduated last spring thanks in part, she says, to the school district’s programs to help school-aged parents, such as the daycare service.
“Without (Playing for Keeps), I don’t think I would have graduated high school or gone off to college,” Campozano said.
She is not alone.
Campozano is one of about 500 Gregg County students who have taken advantage of the various school districts’ programs designed to keep teen parents in school.
