Longview, TX — For at least three weeks, authorities have been on the lookout for an accused child molester. They took the man into custody Wednesday after the alleged victim’s relative became a vigilante.

Longview police arrested Sergio E. Armas, 31, at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday. He had been wanted since a Gregg County grand jury indicted him Aug. 24 for inappropriately touching a 6-year-old child, records show.

Gregg County Assistant District Attorney Jenny Huckle said a relative of the alleged victim knew of the indictment and warrant when they spotted Armas at a restaurant on McCann Road.
