Longview man found guilty of attempted sexual assault, indecency with a child
Longview, TX (Longview News-Journal) — The trial of a Longview man charged with multiple counts of child sex charges has entered the punishment phase in the 124th District Court.
A jury found Dennis Ray Freeman guilty of attempted sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child. They did not render a guilty verdict on the third charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to information obtained from the Gregg County District Clerk’s Office.
Freeman was originally facing two to 99 years in prison, but prosecutors were able to enhance the penalty range to 25 to 99 years in prison because of three prior convictions including burglary of a habitation and attempted rape.
According to grand jury indictments, the girl was younger than 14 years old when the incidents occurred.
In 2000, Freeman was arrested on charges of indecent exposure.
