Longview PD recovers 2 stolen vehicles, arrests 2

LONGVIEW - Officers recovered two stolen vehicles during separate thefts last Friday March
19, 2010.
During the first theft, the victim told officers that James Michael Evans stole the keys to her 2001 Chevrolet Lumina and took her car from her residence at 1713 South Green Street without her permission. Officers canvassed the area and located the stolen car in the 1700 block of Oden Street. Evans was found to be
driving the vehicle and he was subsequently arrested.
James Michael Evans, date of birth 1-7-1963 of Kilgore, was booked into the Gregg County Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail
felony.
The second theft occurred at the Outlaws bar at 1315 East Marshall Avenue at
around 8:52 p.m. The victim told officers that he had parked his 1985 Chevrolet
pick-up in front of the bar and left the keys inside the truck on the floor. When he left the bar and returned to his truck, he found it had been stolen.
Officer Humphrey located the stolen truck at the intersection of Eastman Road and Jane Street. Officer Humphrey tried to stop the truck, but the driver fled in the vehicle, leading officers on a brief pursuit. The pursuit ended when the suspect stopped the vehicle at a house located at 3411 Page Road and fled from officers on foot.
Officer Humphrey captured the suspect and he was identified as Shane Hunt, 10-6-1971 of 600 Mamon St. Longview. Hunt was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (State jail felony), evading arrest in a vehicle (State jail felony) and evading arrest (Class A misdemeanor). Additionally, Hunt was charged with an outstanding Gregg County warrant for fail to comply with sex offender registration (3rd degree felony). Hunt was booked into the Gregg County Jail.
