Police rule out homicide in body found in October on Sabine Street

The Longview Police Department has officially ruled out homicide in the cause of death after the body of a Longview woman was found near a creek on Sabine Street.

On October 14, 2013, police were investigating suspicious activity in the 1000 Block of Sabine Street. An officer was walking back to his car after completing his assignment when he discovered a dead body laying a short distance away.

Officials positively identified the body discovered as Maria Raquel Johnson, 41 ,of Longview.

Authorities would like anyone who may have seen an early 2000's model Chevrolet Suburban or similar SUV parked on the side of the road in the 1000 Block of Sabine Street on October 13, 2013, to contact them. Police feel the SUV may be burgundy in color and have double rear doors. Witnesses told detectives they saw a "Mexican male" come out of the woods near the vehicle that day.

The cause of death is not yet known and will be revealed after officials perform an autopsy.
