The Longview Police Department has identified the officer involved in the fatal shooting of local man on August 7.

According to Public Information Officer Kristie Brian, Johnny Lyons shot and killed Regan Marshall Wagner, 23, of Longview, during a traffic stop at Akin Park. The man was shot by Lyons after he attempted to pull over his vehicle and gunfire was exchanged. The officer was not injured. 

Wagner later died at a local hospital from his injuries. According to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas, Wagner died from gunshot wounds to the trunk and left upper extremity. 

Wagner had been previously arrested in Gregg Conty for making terroristic threats againse a public servant.

Lyons has been placed on paid administrative leave for the duration of the investigation being conducted by the Texas Rangers. The officer is a 22 year veteran of the Longview Police Department.

I realize this a touchy subject, & I have all the respect in the world for the men & women who put that badge on everyday & stand in that gap for us all! However we all know that some of them use that badge to abuse it!

In defense of these people, when they attempt to stop you for a traffic violation, whether you think they are right or not, PULL OVER & STOP! Guilty or not, stop & don't bother to argue, vocally, or by pulling a weapon! That is not good for anyone!
